Upcoming 2007 Mls Season

Each of the teams within the league has made the necessary changes and arrangements to get off to a good start and there are a lot of things to look for in this year’s season. Exciting changes that most await include the contracting of foreign star players, which is the case of Galaxy who contracted David Beckham as the team’s new quarterback.

As for the New York Red Bulls they will finally have their own grounds to play on after years and years of waiting. The new arena located on Cape May Street is scheduled to open in July of 2008. For many a two-year more to wait in order to have their own stadium is nothing compared to the long six years of fighting to finally have a place to call home and all feel that once they play at home it will help the team record wise in the league.

Maybe one of the most significant procedures taken to make teams more competitive and make the sport more appealing is the TV broadcasting that will take place this season along with the improved Latino community receptiveness. The million dollars spent on this will definitely bring benefits to the MLS. There is even a plan to implement a Thursday night soccer night.

Other good measurements in use are in regards to the coaches. This season eleven out of thirteen coaches have either played for the MLS or have coached another club, which would make you expect that all are professional and well familiar with the sport, a tactic to help build each teams confidence.

The preseason games have been played in a playoff format to qualify eight of thirteen teams. This also helps coaches and teammates prepare and identify many playing forms and give them time to fully prepare for the regular season.

these international teams that go to the states to play the allstars do so in off season. they are on holiday, besides a sprained ankle to one of them would probably equate to a years wages of an mls allstar or more, why risk anything, its an exhibition game, not even considered pre seaon warm up.

? we beat chelsea, and let me finish the arguement for u
-yes we had to pool our best players just to do it but, the mls began in 1996, so no our league is not the best, far from it
-not too mention chelsea already has plenty of top class players
-we were also assembled lat minute with very few practice sessions in between
    - and of course pull the “reserves card” SO THAT must be the reason a top club like that lost.
watever idc just plz give credit where it is due (+ this game was 4 yrs ago)

  • 11. owenhegarty1212  |  July 29th, 2010 at 10:41 pm

  • 19. Jimmybangkok  |  July 30th, 2010 at 3:43 am

1.) Any team that’s assembled a week before a match will struggle.
2.) LA were one of the worst teams in the MLS when Sydney beat them, and yes they suck.
3.) I hope football doesn’t get big in the US or Australia so it won’t attract the homosexual rapist crowd away from other sports.

  • 20. letmebe1990  |  July 30th, 2010 at 4:13 am

wat i am saying, its MLS all star team and theystruggle, just look when sydney fc vs la galaxy, sydney fucking raped la galaxy and la galaxy is probebly richer thanall A-leauge teams altogether, and dont say la galaxy wernt trying, once sydney took a strong lead la galaxy we playing like filthey cunts and were sore loosers, no wonder why beckham wanted to fuck off out of usa, FOOTBALL WILL NEVER BE BIG IN AUSTRALIA OR AMERICA WHEN RUGBY LEAUGE OR NFL ARE THE # 1 SPORTS IN THeSE TWO COUNTRYS

  • 21. Jimmybangkok  |  July 30th, 2010 at 4:26 am

I’d say it shows how little you know about football. The MLS all star team had never played together before. The Gold Coast team trained and played together day in day out. Makes a huge difference.

  • 22. letmebe1990  |  July 30th, 2010 at 4:44 am

it took an all star team to beat fullham but when gold goast played fullham they just used a normal team, and gold coast beat them, show how weak american football(soccer)is

  • 23. zechdrummer  |  July 30th, 2010 at 5:11 am

the mls all stars hav won 6 all star games out of 6. thats pretty good. id like to see them play a world class team like barcelona. who knows? maybe they could win

  • 24. RightWinger16  |  July 30th, 2010 at 6:02 am

“Here’s Cunningham, poking it ahead! good luck catching him; you wont!”

Well then if they don’t take it so seriously then they’re not that great. A good team plays game to game, honoring their opponents.
